Summary/Abstract: In the article; a thesis was put forward that one of the main reasons for using design management by companies are numerous changes that occur in their surroundings. The study describes the problems and the essence of design management as well as the arguments why it is used. The literature analysis conducted and the authors’ research indicate that economical growth is noticeable, including an increase in wealth of the middle class along with huge technological progress. Consumers expect the market to provide products which are not only of very good quality but also with value added such as original designs, new technologies and multipurposeness. This is where the need to propagate design management in the academic environment which focuses on management and the art of designing as well as among entrepreneurs stems from.
