Summary/Abstract: Nowadays enterprises face complex operating conditions on the present-day market. The said conditions result from great unpredictability of the environment due its volatility which, as a consequence, hinders long-term predictability of events and processes. Also, many processes take place inside enterprises and are related to the company growth, innovations, changes in the functional area of operations or introduction of new management tools. Moreover, changes in the personnel area are also very important as they stem from changes in the environment as well as internal changes. Thus, enterprise strategy needs to be adjusted accordingly, companies should follow the survival rule in a difficult period and continue to develop under the conditions of relative stability. This paper focuses on durability factors of enterprise business activity and related conditions in relation to the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Under the analysed thesis, while concentrating on the economic context of their operations, enterprises do not treat the CSR area as important from the strategic perspective apart from investing in employees. Conclusions were drawn based on qualitative research conducted in several biggest production enterprises in the north-east Poland. The research tool used comprised indepth interviews, mainly with company CEOs (in several cases interviews were held with the main owners or heads of the supervisory boards). Research constituting a part of more extensive quantitative and qualitative research has been conducted in June and July 2017.
