Summary/Abstract: The preparation and implementation of tasks aimed at maintaining the state's readiness for defence are regulated in Poland by number of normative acts. The most important legal act is the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Apart from the Constitution, Polish law quite extensively discusses the most important issues of national security, including state defence. This is several dozens of laws and several hundreds of executive acts to these laws in the form of various types of ordinances and decrees. This article contains the characteristics of basic normative documents concerning the defence readiness of the state. It contains the answers to the question: How and to what extent normative documents in Poland define rules, requirements and tasks in the area of state's readiness for defence? It also indicates the remaining shortcomings in this area and suggestions for solutions.
