Summary/Abstract: The development of the global financial markets and the emergence of new financial products require a new viewpoint of the financial education of society and its role in the management of personal finances. In the herein paper, the author at hand describes the significance of financial education in terms of the management of personal finances, while also presenting the results of research on the financial awareness of Polish society conducted by various institutions and indicating the directions of changes in the area of financial education.
