Summary/Abstract: The frequently repeated statement saying that the supply chain is as strong (secure) as its weakest link, became an inspiration for an in-depth analysis of this issue. The article presents two basic concepts of the weakest link. The first perspective stressed the importance of weakest links for the functioning of supply chains, while the second one, which is much less obvious and not so frequently mentioned, refers to the weakest-link public goods. The paper presents also the basic characteristics of supply chain security which has significant impact on the occurrence of the most feeble elements. The last part of the article includes some examples of disruptions resulting from the weakest links.
