Summary/Abstract: Prolonging the period of staying in the parental home after completing one’s education became a topic of social debate in Poland around 10 years ago, when the boom generation of the early 1980s was transitioning to adulthood. The article presents the findings of qualitative research analysing the processes of entering adulthood among young Poles representing the said generation (biographical interviews with men and women, as well as in-depth interviews with their parents). In this article I distinguish three perspectives that appear in the debate around the ‘crowded nest’ phenomenon: the perspective of generational censure, that of generational worry, and thirdly intergenerational collaboration. The first two perspectives were the most common when describing the early-adulthood experiences of the generation in question. Analysis of the latest data from CBOS (2017) suggests the emergence of the third perspective.
