Summary/Abstract: It is interesting but alarming that adult children who have not yet started a family of their own are choosing to stay with their parents. According to statistics this practice is increasingly common. Descriptions of this group of young adults are mainly quite critical. This paper analyses data gathered from 42 interviews conducted with adult children who have not left home. They talk about their family, their relations with their parents, and how they contribute to the family of which they are full-time members. What keeps them with their family of origin? Are the reasons practical or emotional? Do they feel pressured by their parents to move out?
