Summary/Abstract: Notes on the idea of people in Machiavelli’s and Rousseau’s republicanism. The paper analyses some relevant aspects of Machiavelli’s and Rousseau’s republicanism (the idea of Republic, of the people and social conflicts) which stand nowadays at the centre of the debate on populism.
