Summary/Abstract: Béla Pásztor (1895–1966), actor, theater and film director, journalist, was a well-known figure in the Hungarian film industry in the 1920s, but became forgotten in film and theater history. He emigrated to Israel in 1949 and became the founder, director and actor of a Hungarian-speaking theater company that was established in 1953 in Israel. Hungarian film and theater history talks about his life and his theater very rarely and often with mistakes. This research for the first time presents his works on the basis of contemporary media, library and archival sources and his personal bequest. The paper is a concise version of a chapter from my forthcoming book dedicated to the life story of Béla Pásztor in the context of movie- and theater history during the 1920s-1960s.
