Summary/Abstract: The present paper offers a detailed overview of how Hungarian historiography attempted to establish the source or sources lying in the background of the story preserved in the first half of Chapter 38 of the famous treatise, the De administrando imperio commissioned by the tenth-century Byzantine Emperor, Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos.
