Summary/Abstract: The evangelist Marc used in various parts of his gospel, texts of the Old Testament, at times inclusively, without mentioning that they are quotes and sometimes explicitly. The following inquiry pursues the question whether Marc himself looked up and found such quotes, or if he is following his own tradition in the use of the scripture. It is demonstrated that he often or always followed his tradition concerning the script parts, quoting from memory, and that he did not verify those quotes.
