Summary/Abstract: When I began studying psychology in the mid 1960s at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, the name Ferenc Mérei could hardly be spoken above a whisper. Indeed, only through whispers did one learn that Mérei was a free man once again, and had found a job: as a clinical psychologist at the National Institute for Mental Health.
