Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present the role Cieszyn Silesia played in the Polish and Czechoslovakian vision of independent state. The military confrontation of Slavic nations in 1919, later actions in the interwar period, that can be recognized as terrorist incidents, military occupation of Zaolzie in 1938 had a great influence on the sense of safety to the region residents no matter their citizenship, nationality, beliefs. Due to the military actions in 1919 and the Spa’s Council of Ambassadors decision thousands of Polish people stayed outside the Polish borders.
