Problematics of pirate’s activities on aquatic water, development of the phenomenon, methods of combating

Summary/Abstract: The problem of maritime piracy is often perceived through the history of this phenomenon. The aim of the article is to show modern image of this type of criminal activity, taking into account the characteristics of the sea transport, historical conditions of its development. There will also be described places particularly exposed to attacks, methods of taking over and controlling ships by criminals and finally measures developed by European Union, NATO and other international organizations. The volume of this article will not allow to present a full description of the phenomenon. However, it allows to show basic elements of maritime piracy problem, that has became a permanent element of threats to sea transport.
