Summary/Abstract: This tribute to Charles Goodwin reflects on his contributions to the study of visual practices, his distinctive approach within the field of video analysis and interactional studies, and the way he has inspired further work. In particular, this paper first discusses his distinctive way of tackling visual practices (part one), which is illustrated with a special focus on the analysis of the use of the Munsell chart (part two). Finally, part three further elaborates on this analysis on the basis of my own data, by integrating Goodwin’s insights within an approach of multimodality and multisensoriality in social interaction.
