Summary/Abstract: During the First World War 157 inhabitants of Bichigiu were mobilized in the Austro-Hungarian infantry regiments: the 63 Bistriţa regiment, the 32 Honved Dej regiment and the 23rd Târgu Mureş Fighter Regiment. The inhabitants of Bichigiu fought on the front lines. 13 of them lost their lives, 7 became disabled persons and 21 have been reported missing. After the war, 19 women became widowed and 51 children became fatherless.
