Legal security of physicians

Summary/Abstract: Recent events related to the protest of doctors in this country have resulted in a massive wave of comments, often very negative, vulgar, particularly affecting the leaders of the protesting group. There are valid concerns that such a narrative may induce or even provoke some to take to criminal activity, not just verbal intimidation. The issue is significant indeed, as during the IV Congress of Lawyers of Wielkopolska held in February 2017, one of the teams focused on the legal security of doctors, and postulated the need of modifying the provision of Art. 44 of the Act on the Medical and Dental Profession, by extending the scope of protection typically afforded a public official – to all physicians, also during their professional activity, as well as in situations in which necessary protection is proportional to the possible threat aimed at the physician, a threat directly associated with his/her profession.
