Bogdan Nawroczyński’s concept of pedagogy as a humanistic-social applied science

Summary/Abstract: The article is a contemporary reading of Bogdan Nawroczyński’spedagogy as a humanistic-social applied science. This was done throughthe analysis of his scientific legacy within the philosophical-ideologicalassumptions, and then through the interpretation and identification of itsareas, where it is understood as one of humanities and as a social and applied(practical) science.Understanding the conditions of its development by Nawroczyński,as well as not losing the cultural, national and identity reasons of the pedagogicalprocesses, justifies that in the sense of its meaning and essence liesnot only the humanistic and social dimension, but also the applicability ofdeveloped regularities. Arguments indicated in these issues by Nawroczyńskiare timeless and, unfortunately, they have not been used in the Polish „change‚89”. Their core consists in the assertions that: except of issues common toother nations, in the life of our nation may arise problems proper only forit, to which foreign concepts will not bring the answers; the development ofthe nation and culture requires in each turning point of their history a broaddiagnosis of the contemporary times: the diagnosis of needs and developmenttrends. They are the basis for verification of the chosen directions ofeducational activity and development of the discipline that engages it.
