Summary/Abstract: The goal of the following article is two-fold. It aims to define a new role of an interior designer as a person who is able to discover and respond to needs of future users of residential spaces, who possess not only specialized knowledge but also has interpersonal abilities, who should also create in a conscious way the space for other people. It also aims to present a new concept of interior designing, putting in the center the human being, his/her needs and sense of comfort both ergonomic and mental. The emotional way of treating one’s individual living space as unique personal interior seems important as well. In the article presented below, I would like to relate the above definitions to the context of my own design experiences as an interior designer – to present the author’s concept of personal interiors, arising from multiannual observations and analysis of relations between an architect and a client. The design of the presented interiors shows the solutions in which the key aspect was to underline the personal character and the emotional relationship between the interior and its inhabitant.
