Summary/Abstract: Dimitrie Cantemir is not simply a man of his own time, although he actually belongs to that time of conflicts, connections, and rebirths. Nor did he escape the intrigue of time, neither of the scheming nor of the wars. Because in a European space where the average life was only 26 years old, the identities were tough and easy to digest. However, they rose far above them through intelligence, knowledge, culture and universality. It was right, he had the chance to be in a space of both fallacy and confluence. He is part of the demiurgic generation of the European synthesis culture. And it was possible to be so, because he was a bookman. Dimitrie Cantemir is one of those rare people who managed to escalate, to the most unspoiled peaks, the mountain of knowledge. Life, with all its twists and turns from the two centuries, the seventeenth and the eighteenth, was very difficult at that time at the border between the two great empires - the Tsarist and the Ottoman. But the Romanian scholar managed to transform, like no one else, those times, into works of great depth and unparalleled beauty, which remain current, over three centuries, through their reverberant and heuristic quality. Cantemir creates through description, describes through creation, builds through conflict and lasts through wisdom, in a post-Byzantine space of convergence of civilizations, synthesis of cultures, construction of values ​​from which the great European culture was born.
