Summary/Abstract: A lot of papers dedicated to accession to the USSR of Limitrophe states of the Baltic region in the western school of historiography. At the same time there is a clear lack of such works in Russian historical thought. In this paper we review the situation with researches undertaken by the occupation and annexation of the initial phase of the Sovietization of Lithuania. We consider the historiographical blocks chronologically and geographically. We also consider the work of contemporaries, witnesses and active participants in the events of 1939–1941. In the summer of 1940 in the Lithuanian society became apparent two line of description of these events, which continued with certain nuances and more till now. This first part of the article is devoted mainly to question of Soviet historiography.
