Summary/Abstract: Subject of the article is the social thinking of journalists as an element of professional culture. Four aspects are analyzed: 1. Metamorphoses of the social functions of the media;. 2. reformatting independent journalism into a passive registrar - problems of journalistic framing of the reality; 3. transformation into models of non-socializing journalism-parameters of media social sensitivity: limited, selective coverage of reality; 4. a collapse in media confidence due to deficits in journalists' social sensitivity, journalistic eyesight and „reflex” to the problems of society: narrow content, regional coverage of news, information uniformity and etc.
