Andrei Bely’s journey after Steiner’s anthroposophy. Between the temples of the spirit of Western Europe

Summary/Abstract: The article provides a reading of Andrei Bely’s memoirs in order to analyse the author’s intensive contact with Western Europe, which he saw from the point of view of his gradually deepening anthroposophic experience. A point of departure is the idiosyncrasy of the author’s description of reality and his experiences, which is partly factually unreliable. The focus of Bely’s reflections are the architectural creations of the day, embodying the alternative spiritual aspect of Western Europe: La Maison du Peuple in Brussels and Steiner’s Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, in whose construction the author participated.
