Summary/Abstract: The main objectives of this paper is to introduce the concept of resilience, beginning with the definitions from ecology (ecosystems) and reaching the social systems theories. This concept will be discussed in connection with the necessity and importance of national security strategies and social benefits of resilience, especially for terrorist attacks and natural disasters or large-scale accidents.
