The experience of teaching art history at the History Department of Leningrad State University, St. Petersburg State University

Summary/Abstract: As the name suggests, in this essay Nina N. Kalitina describes her experience of teaching the history of Western European art at the historical faculty of St. Petersburg State University. The author seeks to define the characteristics of the university pedagogical tradition, to identify the main criteria of pedagogical skills. N. N. Kalitinapays particular attention to work with students, pointing to the need for the teacher to possess the art of oratory, to be able to organize interesting seminars and workshops. Separately, the author focuses on the description of her own working experience with post-graduate students.
