Summary/Abstract: Dimitrie Cantemir, was prince of Moldavia (March - April 1693 and 1710-1711), linguist, writer, historian, philosopher, musicologist, composer, great humanist scholar of Romanian cultural space and the first member of the Romanian Academy of Sciences in Berlin, leading personality who founded the Russia Academy. What we know less about Dimitrie Cantemir it is he was noted as one of the trademark pawns of the late Renaissance period. The controversy on whether or not he spied for Russia continues even today.
