Summary/Abstract: The article centres on the so called universal hierarchy of clausal functional projections developed by Cinque. Based on this hierarchy, the article describes the relative order of sentential adverbs in the Lithuanian language. It attempts to determine whether sentential adverbs constitute a certain hierarchy of usage in Lithuanian and whether the findings of the Lithuanian language may confirm the universality of Cinque’s hierarchy. The article mostly refers to the examples from the Corpus of Contemporary Lithuanian Language of the Centre of Computational Linguistics of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas as well as the examples found through the web search engine Google.
