Summary/Abstract: Russian media word-creation reflects the acute globalization and virtualization processes of social life, internalization of information and communication spheres. These processes are indirectly expressed in the Russian language, in particular in modern word-formation processes, which results are presented in the form of neologisms in media texts of various formats. The source material for the study of new trends in word-formation are the texts of electronic and printed Russian media, as well as television and radio channels of the early XXI century. Word-formation elements and word-formation models different in time of borrowing and in degree of productivity are presented in Russian media neologisms. It is possible not only to activate previously unproductive word-formation elements and the emergence of new ones in derivational processes, but also to transform their semantics.Russian media word-creation actively uses the word-building suffixes of the international character: suffixes -изм, -изаци(я), -инг, which have an abstract semantics, suffixes possessing the semantics of a person: -ист; prefixes of dimensional-evaluative semantics супер-, гипер-, мега-, псевдо-, квази- with the semantics of untruthfulness, falseness, -экс having the seme ‘former’, as well as prefixoids евро-, нано-, крипто-, ки-бер-, suffixoids -ман(ия), -фоб(ия), -гейт.Liberalization of the social processes in Russia was reflected in actualization of univerbation models, diminutive word-building, contamination process. The factors determining the activation of international elements in media word-creation are mainly social by nature and are associated with globalization processes in the modern world.
