Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the issues regarding the process of organising branches of National Bank of Poland in the so-called “Recovered Territories” on the example of National Polish Bank’s Branch in Racibórz. In the first place the matter of the communist authorities’ attitude towards the banking system was discussed. Secondly the legislation in the field of banking was analysed, especially the decree on National Bank of Poland of 15th January, 1945. Subsequently the archival sources regarding the National Polish Bank’s Branch in Racibórz were analyzed. The last part of the paper was devoted to conclusions drawn from the research.
