Summary/Abstract: The science of civilizations by Feliks Koneczny is reviewed in juxtaposition of other contemporary theories on this subject. The superiority of this theory is stressed taking into account the notions of civilization, their classification as well as the laws governing their internal development and relations. In view of the author the law of proportionality between the values on which the functioning of all civilizations is based, represents the most significant asset of Koneczny's historic and philosophical theory. While aware that Koneczny's theory, as any theory developed on the basis of the humanities, cannot not be devoid of errors, the author argues that given the logical nature of the laws governing his theory , it represents the best launching pad for deliberating on why present-day intercultural relations are developing the way they do.
