Summary/Abstract: The historical and urban research of the city of Bar in Vinnystia region, the founding of which was connected with the activity of queen Bona Sforza in 1540, were conducted for the first time. It was proved that the period of Bona Sforza was linked with the reconstruction of the city-fortress that existed from late 14th – 15th centuries and the implementation of “ideal city” concept of the Renaissance age to its urban structure. The realization of this concept, as it turns out from the chronology of Bar s reconstruction, was the first one that took place in the history of urban planning in Ukraine.
