Summary/Abstract: Apellativization of proper nouns – the process, by which the proper names become general, is one of the primary ways of forming a new lexical items. This article provides insight on apellativisational names of individual elements of clothing. The aim of the work is to point out their lexical-semantic and etymological peculiarities. As the material basis we have used apellativisational onyms taken from the monolingual and the etymological dictionaries of the Russian language.
