Professional Secret in the Practice of Sexologist

Summary/Abstract: In the fulfilment of their professional duties, sexologists are often faced with the necessity to analyse a specific actual situation and to match it to the existing legal reality. Knowledge and application of some of the legal procedures will protect physicians against legal and penal liability as well as damages claimed on the grounds of the civil law. The article discusses selected legal issues concerning the everyday practice of sexologist. Also, the issues concerning a sexological examination, medical secret and the duty to report a crime to relevant authorities are discussed in the paper. Finally, three case studies from the sexological practice concerning legal dilemmas and possible solutions are presented.
