Summary/Abstract: The United Animal Nations and the International Court of Justice for Animal Rights have been established upon the model of the United Nations Organization and the International Court of Justice in the Hague, primarily as a reflection of the need to promote the legal protection of animals. In this paper, the author provides an overview of the composition and objectives of the International Court of Justice for Animal Rights. Further on, the author casts more light on the workings of this Court by analyzing some cases which have been adjudicated by this Court. The inhuman treatment of animals as well as the slaughter, persecution and extinction of some animal species (usually for profit and enrichment of the human species) show that, in the past thirty years of its operation, the International Court of Justice for Animal Rights has not managed to provide a sufficient shield for an efficient legal protection of animals. In this paper, the author points out to the urgent need to establish a more efficient legal mechanism which would ensure the observance of animal rights and protect animals from the destructive activities of human beings.
