Summary/Abstract: Since 1989 families in Slovakia needed to adapt to new political, economic and social conditions. Drawing on broader etnographic research conducted in the village of Pitelová, the author focuses on economic strategies that have been developed in relation to the changes occuring in Slovakia since 1990's. She will pay particular attention to labour migration and its impact on the lives of the migrants' families.
