Summary/Abstract: The article examines Russian constructions with the so-called second accusative case of nouns in comparison with their Italian functional equivalents. In particular, constructions like пойти в солдаты and назначить в редакторы are analyzed. The analysis is based on the Russian National Corpus (www.ruscorpora.ru), in particular, on the parallel Russian- Italian subcorpus. The study shows a general trend towards active using of the second accusative in Russian. The Russian-Italian correspondences have been systematized and the basic lexical-semantic groups of verbs are identified with the aim of optimizing the work of translators from Russian into Italian.
