Summary/Abstract: One hypothetical method for circumventing the visually dominated human sense hierarchy during research is the chemical or technological induction of a synesthetic-like sensory state within laboratory experimentation. Synesthesia, the rarely-occurring natural phenomena of sense mixing within the human perceptive system, transcends the traditional five separate senses as they have been historically defined.
