Summary/Abstract: Physical activity is most commonly defined as any kind of body movement caused by muscle spasms in which the expenditure of energy exceeds the rest energy’s level. World Health Organization recommends that the population between 18 and 65 y.o. should practice moderate physical activity 5 days a week that lasts for at least 30 minutes or a more intensive one 3 days a week for minimum 20 minutes. Among its forms is sexual intercourse. Physical activity decreases the risk of death due to cardiovascular diseases, helps reduce the body weight an maintain the proper brain function. Many tests of the body’s reactions to the sexual intercourse, excluding sexual organs, have been performed. The researches tried to measure individual reactions of the human body and energy’s expenditure during intimacy. Basic vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure stay on the levels adequate to the moderate exertion. According to Bruce’s protocol it’s equivalent to the I-st stage of female and II-nd stage of male exercise test performed on a classic track. Energy’s expenditure has been determined as 3,1 kcal/min for a female and 4,2 kcal/min for a male and it exceeds the levels in, for example, slow walk. The purpose of this dissertation is to compare the amount of burnt calories between moderate physical activity and sexual intercourse.
