Summary/Abstract: Author analyses current situation and problems in functioning of the Serbian decentralized media and possible changes of their legal regime related to local, municipal and regional radio and television stations and local print media, which should cover the whole range of laws, including the Law on Public Information, Broadcasting Law, Law on Local Self-Government, Law on the Capital City and the Law on National Councils of National Minorities, and lead to targeted reorganization and reform of the Serbian media scene. The analysis included the relevant regulations and standards of the European Union in this field and comparative experiences and best practices of individual member states. The author particularly critically examines recommended formation of a new model of regional broadcasting in Serbia, which would be based on regional public services.
