Summary/Abstract: The common characteristic of works compiled about Hadji Murad of Hunzakh, one of the Caucasian national heroes, was their emotional approach to events. The most famous of these works is Tolstoy’s “Hadji Murad”, which was written in story format, based on documents and sensational newscomments that reflects the official standpoint of the Czarist Russia and is continuing to be a reference for many writers. However, it shouldn’t be ruled out that both this book and the majority of the books and stories written in Turkey about Hadji Murad are works of fiction. In this work, after presenting a short biography of Master/Chief Regent Hadji Murad of Hunzakh, who left an important influence on the system of Imamate of Caucasia, we, objectively and according to the practice of history, have tried to analyze the dispute between Imam Shamil and Hadji Murad by using primarily Russian works and other reliable written sources.
