Summary/Abstract: Beginning of a new life and the way of starting a unity of family that will be the basis of social structure is changing and updated based on urbanisation, globalisation and technology triangle. “Marriage bureau”, which is carried the role of intermediator in the traditional marriage models that is seen widely in Turkey, is also relocated into social media according as developing technology and it is continued in a much wider participation places. In other words, technology appears the traditional marriage bureau with its new views and transformation. Traditional marriage bureau such as marriage programs, matchmaking (online dating sites), secular marriage sites is transferred to the television screens and virtual environments, carries out the intermediator of the marriage function from street, neighborhood to outside of city and country’s borders. While social media make unfamiliar people to come together in platforms that is created in social media environment it is also supportive for individual’s transition period when individuals get to know each other. On the other hand, match-makers caused familiar males and females to get married. It is dwelled on this article that how the traditional marriage bureau fulfills its duty related with marriage which is an important transition period of life in new versions of traditional social places in television screens and virtual environment, how they are in communication with each other in the manner of being a family. The study which is based on observations that is made by without asking questions in a traditional social place that is transferred to present social media is conducted in the consideration of determination and commentaries, marriage broadcasts in many TV channels, communications in match-making and marriage sites which is active and having members increasingly. It is searched for an answer with this study that how social media affects the traditional marriage models, stages and practices.
