Summary/Abstract: Studies about stigmatization in social sciences have seen a significant increase especially in social psychology in the last thirty years. Stigma is a social phenomenon in which individuals or groups who do not comply with normative society values are exposed to prejudice, labeling, and stereotypical thinking by others. These phenomena give rise to many negative effects on the individuals, such as leasing a house, working life, marriage, health care services etc. Women with disadvantaged condition have faced the serious damage of their self-sufficiency and self-esteem by the enacting stigma. In this way, the social work discipline which is based on human rights and social justice principles must struggle against stigmatization in order to achieve in its purposes. The aim of this article is to see stigmatized women problems that they experienced in social services and to raise the awareness. At the same time, it is aimed to contribute social work practices and researches through sexual identity with a social work perspective.
