Summary/Abstract: Aim of this study is to examine middle school students’ coping with strategies relationship with their perceived social support and detecting if this perceived social support is predicting coping strategies or not. For this purpose, 305 middle school students were administered the Coping Scale developed by Spirito, Stark and Williams (1988) and Perceived Social Support Scale developed by Yıldırım (2004). Correlation and regression analyses techniques have been used to reach statistical conclusions of this research. According to conclusions of this research, there is a positive and statistically significant relation between social support from parents, teachers and friends, and active coping; but there is a negative and significant relation between support from parents, teachers and friends, and avoidant coping. However, perceived social support from parents, teachers and friends predicts 13% of active coping. In the light of this results, it has been discussed with emphasis on the importance of including perceived social support activities while planning counseling and psychological guidance services to increase students’ coping with skills and suggestions have been made for further research on this issue.
