Summary/Abstract: For several years now, I have been concerned with the notion of musical style. In the beginning it was as a concept of art history that had migrated into musicology, by treating - globally, historically - epochs like the Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, Romantic or Modern music, or dealing with the personal style of a composer. My thesis on mannerism in music may be an example of this. This sort of approach is well known in Romanian musicology and it reflects older trends in the thinking about style.
