Summary/Abstract: The article explores comparison of idioms in two Slavic languages: the Czech and the Belarusian. It analyzes phraseological units that include a ‘soul’ component. Examples that are being explored here serve a purpose of evaluation, they evaluate each other, and present transformation to the unknown world, such as death. Thematic groups of idioms with a word ‘soul’ present us with various forms in both languages. In the Belarusian language their number is twice greater than in Czech. In these languages, we can find a small number of complete equivalents. Authors come to conclusion that quantitative asymmetry of idioms with a word ‘soul’ in two Slavic languages can be based on the place of religion in the national culture.
