Summary/Abstract: Hungary has relatively short experience with the institution of republic. Firstly was the Hungarian Republic declared in 1918 after the first world war. Hungary was “kingdom without king” in the interwar period. The second declaration of Hungarian Republic was born in 1946. Hungary is republic from this time. After the democratical transition in 1989 the republican tradition from 1946 played very important role. This tradition did not play important role in the constitution making in 2011.
