Summary/Abstract: Through the present study, the authors propose to make a brief analysis of the legal means by which the Romanian state ensures the protection of its citizens who go to work abroad on the background of the liberalization of the labor market at European level. The legal framework for such intervention is represented by the Law no 156 / 2000 on the protection of Romanian citizens working abroad and the Methodological Norms for its implementation. Thus, the term "specialized labor placement services" has been highlighted in order to build up the overall picture of how these are then provided. Also were considered tasks of Romanian Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Labor Inspection as organs of the Romanian state involved in this process and not least there were set the general rules governing the social security system for the Romanian citizens working abroad.
