Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the question of students’ self-reflection, self-motivation and several motivational factors which are very important in the process of self-regulation. The introductory section clarifies the main problem, it defines and discovers the basic sources of self-regulation and highlights some theoretical works such as those written by Hrbáčková and Zelina. The concept of self-regulation is connected with the personality of the student, therefore, the study also focuses on general psychology, with special attention to the model formulated by prof. D. Kováč. The survey was carried out at two selected secondary schools in Nové Zámky. The aim was to find out how students can control and manage their behaviour. In order to achieve our goal, we applied the self-regulation questionnaire compiled by D. Broadment. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with students. The research has confirmed that the quality of an individual’s life is to a large extent determined by the degree of self-regulation, hard work and self-control.
