Summary/Abstract: The lack of ideological difference among political parties was evident since the middle of 1960, when Otto Kirccheimer identified “the catch –all” party as a new typology. In difference with the party of masses that gained success thanks to the capability to increase the devotion of an electorate that would “ naturally” vote for her, this new type of party sends messages for everybody beyond their social class and status, challenging the notion of the party as a representative of the social hierarchy.
