Summary/Abstract: In her study Ildikó Ungvári Zrínyi writes about the series of performances by Marina Abramović at the Serpentine Gallery last year, combining her own experience with theoretical research. The author approaches the “art made of nothing” from the perspective of attention and experience, while she analyses the blindness experienced at the performance with the tools of theatre studies and phenomenology. Eventually the question arises to which extent Abramović’s performance can be considered theatre. The answer is in the spaces offered by communal/ritual/participatory theatre.
